Medications

Quick Info:

Medications

During your visit, if you require a prescription, WEH&WC providers may:

  • Dispense pre-packaged medication onsite, if available in the WEH&WC

  • Send your prescription electronically to be mailed directly to your home through the home delivery medication program, if it is clinically appropriate and the preventive/chronic medication is on the home delivery formulary

  • Send it to the local pharmacy of your choice if the medication is not available onsite or by home delivery

Cost

Effective 1/1/2023, medications dispensed through the Health & Wellness Center (dispensed onsite or through home delivery) are no additional cost.

Formulary

The medication dispensing formulary is subject to change based on utilization, need and cost. To inquire if your medication is kept in stock, please call the WEH&WC at (262) 896-8420.

Medication Dispensing Onsite and Refill Process

The Waukesha Employee Health & Wellness Center will be able to dispense certain medications at the point of care. Medications must be prescribed by one of our providers during a visit to the Center.

We cannot fill prescriptions from outside providers like a pharmacy, such as Walgreens can fill. Our formulary consists of the top utilized medications and the medications used most commonly for diagnosis in a Primary Care Office. No narcotics or controlled substances will be stocked in the Health & Wellness Center.

Here is how it works:

  1. Initial visit will be a regular provider visit. The provider needs to evaluate before prescribing. In some cases, the provider will be able to dispense up to 3 months of medication at this visit.

  2. If a refill is requested, patient schedules a medication refill visit, which is a check-in with the provider so they can dispense the medication. Since we are not a pharmacy, patients need to see the provider, at least briefly so they can dispense the medication to the patient directly.

  3. It is Provider discretion if they are able to refill a prescription or if they need to evaluate patient to determine if medication is working, needs adjusting, etc. This may require a follow-up visit (blood test, blood pressure check, etc.,) and may require a more comprehensive visit in that instance. This will not be every time, but for some patients could be 90 days, or 6 months, or yearly.

  4. If you are seen by one of our providers and your medication is not included in our formulary, our providers will be able to write you a script and send that to your preferred pharmacy electronically for you to pick up. Regular pharmacy rates will apply.

Home Delivery Medications

Most preventive/chronic condition medications currently dispensed through the WEH&WC are now available to be sent directly to your home, through the new home delivery medication program! This means:

  • Less time needed for provider appointments

  • You will never run out of preventive/chronic medications again

It is important to discuss with your provider whether this program is clinically appropriate based on your individualized treatment plan. If yes, your provider will prescribe a set number of refills, and you will only need to come in when those refills are up, or if you have any changes to your health that you want to discuss.

Here's how to get started:

If you have current medication(s) that you refill through the WEH&WC:

  1. Make a medication refill appointment with a WEH&WC provider at least 3 weeks prior to your refill need to allow time for delivery.

  2. At your appointment, let you provider know that you’d like to discuss moving your refills to the home delivery medication program.

  3. If your provider agrees that the home delivery medication program is a good fit for you, here's how it will work:

    • DURING your appointment: Once a medication is sent to home delivery for the first time, you will need to setup an account with the SavRx portal to confirm your mailing address. This will just take a few minutes of your time at the end of your appointment and a WEH&WC staff member will assist you.

    • AFTER you receive your first medication refill:

        • The authorized number of refills will ship to you automatically.

        • You will receive an email notification from SavRx at the time of your last refill. You should then call to schedule an appointment with your WEH&WC provider. Make sure to do this as soon as your receive your last refill to ensure there are no disruptions to your medication.
